Today, I am sharing an easy homemade taco seasoning. You probably have all the ingredients in your cabinet right now! Seriously, this stuff is good and just as easy as those packages that you buy at the store. I also like the fact that you can regulate what goes into it. If you’d like, it’s easy to mix up a batch or two ahead of time too.

This particular recipe make enough for 1 to 1-1/2 pounds of ground beef or chicken.

Taco Seasoning Recipe
Ingredients for seasoning mix
- chili powder
- all-purpose flour (optional)
- ground cumin
- salt
- beef or chicken bouillon granules (optional)
- ground black pepper
- paprika
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- oregano
- ground cayenne pepper
Additional Ingredients
- ground beef or shredded chicken
- water

How to make your own Taco Seasoning Mix
- Prepare the seasoning mix
Mix all of the taco seasoning ingredients. Store in a covered container.
- How to use the seasoning mix
TO USE: Brown meat and drain, if necessary. Add taco seasoning mix and water. Simmer over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until desired consistency is reached.

- The all-purpose flour and bouillon granules are optional ingredients. The flour helps slightly thicken the sauce. The bouillon granules add extra meaty flavor.
- To make this low-carb and gluten-free, omit the all-purpose flour and bouillon granules.
- Use this recipe in any recipe that calls for a packet of taco seasoning. As written, it makes approximately 1 to 1-1/2 oz. of seasoning mix.
- Want to make this in bulk? You can easily double, triple, quadruple, etc., the recipe. Use approximately 2 tablespoons of the mix per pound of meat or in place of the store-bought package.

This recipe makes enough seasoning for 1 to 1-1/2 lbs. of ground beef or chicken. The prepared mix is approximately equal to one store-bought packet.
Smell and look at the seasoning. If there is an off-odor, flavor, or appearance – toss it. Additionally, if you see mold, discard it.
As long as it’s stored properly (air tight), up to 1-2 years.
Like most store-bought seasoning mixes, this recipe, as written, does have a few carbs. There are 3.2 grams of total carbs per serving, with 1 gram of fiber, for a total NET CARBS 2.2 grams per serving.
HOWEVER, you can totally omit the all-purpose flour and bouillon granules to reduce the number of total carbs to 2.2 grams minus 1 gram of fiber for a NET CARB total of 1.2 grams per serving.

Alright Jamie here is my question for you. You know I am not that great of a cook and if you remember my kids are picky eaters; especially jesse who has stomach problems so when we do have Mexican food I always buy mild and only use 1/4 to 1/2 the seasoning pack.
What would be the best way to make this so it is easy on my daughter's sensitive stomach?
