Copycat Sonic Ocean Water

If you are at all familiar with Ocean Water from Sonic, then you’ll be so happy to have this copycat version you can make at home for just a fraction of the price!!

Lemon-lime soda combines with coconut extract and blue food coloring in this Copycat Sonic Ocean Water recipe! It couldn’t be easier – and it surely is all of the deliciousness you expect! I think this will be THE DRINK this summer in the Love Bakes Good Cakes house … will it be in yours, too?

With its fun color, this is the perfect drink to serve on the 4th of July – or any of your summer cookouts, parties, or just because! If you have an ocean-themed, or luau-themed party – then this recipe is a necessity!! ?

Recipe for Sonic Ocean Water

  • water
  • sugar
  • coconut extract
  • blue food coloring
  • Sprite (or another lemon-lime flavor) soda
  • Ice

How to make Sonic Ocean Water

  1. In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the water and sugar. Microwave on HIGH for 1 minute. Stir well until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Pour the mixture into a pitcher. Add the extract and food coloring. Mix well. Pour the Sprite into the pitcher.
  3. Serve over ice.

Yep! Obviously, it won’t be as pretty, but it will still be as delicious!

Sure, you could …. but I would not!! This is an easy-peasy last-minute recipe! You don’t want the soda to lose its fizz and you definitely don’t want the ice diluting your drink too much!

Ingredients 

  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon coconut extract
  • 3 drops blue food coloring
  • 2 cans Sprite soda, 12 oz. each
  • Ice

Instructions 

  • In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the water and sugar. Microwave on HIGH for 1 minute. Stir well until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Pour the mixture into a pitcher. Add the extract and food coloring. Mix well. Pour the Sprite into the pitcher.
  • Serve over ice.

    Ok…I'll stop complaining about the heat now. While our heat indices have reached 100+, our temps haven't. And certainly not for a week. Yikes. I'd be drinking this by the gallon. Although, truthfully I have never had Sonic's Ocean Water. I used to be hooked on their blackberry iced tea until they stopped making it 🙁
