I have to admit something to you ... Growing up, the thought of eating tuna literally made me gag. I can't tell you how many times my parents made me sit at the table (for what seemed like hours), trying to get me to eat tuna sandwiches or tuna noodle casserole. I would always be threatened with "it would be my breakfast" ..... yikes! I'm not sure when or how, but I have since overcome my tuna aversion.
Thankfully, I have no problem getting my family to eat these sandwiches! They're nice to make when you need something quick and easy ... and they're easy on the budget!
Cheesy Tuna Melts
Yield: 8 servings
3/4 cup chopped celery
3/4 cup chopped onion
2 can tuna (6 oz. each) tuna, drained and flaked
1-1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 tsp. seasoned salt, optional
8 hamburger buns, split
Preheat oven to 350° F. In a bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Spread tuna mixture on bottom buns; replace tops. Wrap in foil. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Serve immediately.
