Whether you want to make ham for Easter, for Christmas, or just for tonight’s dinner, this is a glazed ham recipe that will fill you and your loved ones right up!
Juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside, with the perfect sweet-savory flavor mix – it’s absolutely glorious. I’m surprised it’s not illegal for a ham to taste this good!
Glazed ham is one of those traditional recipes that everyone’s seen or had before, but I’ve discovered some people don’t know how to make!! This is not to say that it’s their fault, sometimes your favorite auntie just didn’t pass on the recipe. Or, despite your best efforts, auntie’s glazed ham recipe doesn’t quite translate somehow. Don’t worry – I’ve got you covered!
That’s why I’m excited to share this recipe today! You’ll see just how long to cook a ham without it becoming dry, AND you’ll learn how to put together a fantastic, sugary glaze. If you don’t quite know how to cook a ham or glaze a ham, you’re in luck! While it takes a bit of time, it’s pretty easy and a crowd pleaser in any season.

Recipe for Honey Baked Ham

- spiral ham
- honey
- unsalted butter
- white granulated sugar
- onion powder
- ground cinnamon
- nutmeg
- ground ginger
- ground cloves
- seasoned salt
- water

How to cook Glazed Ham
Time needed: 3 hours.
How to cook Glazed Ham
- Preheat.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Coat an oven roasting pan or 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray.
- Place.
Place the ham in the pan, cut side down.
- Combine.
Combine the butter and honey until thoroughly mixed.
- Pour.
Pour the mixture over the ham, coating evenly.
- Cover.
Cover the baking dish with foil and place it in the preheated oven.
- Bake.
Bake for 2 hours or until internal temperature is 140°F.
- Remove.
Remove the ham from the oven and turn the oven to broil.
- Combine.
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and all seasonings with 1/2 cup water.
- Boil.
Bring the sugar mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently until the sugar is dissolved.
- Pour.
Carefully pour half of the glaze over the ham.
- Broil.
Place the ham, uncovered, under the broiler. Watch it closely and broil for 1-2 minutes or until the glaze starts to bubble.
- Remove and pour.
Remove the ham from the oven and pour the remaining glaze over the ham.
- Broil.
Return the ham to the oven, uncovered, and continue to broil for 1-2 minutes.
- Remove.
Remove the ham from the oven.
- Cut and serve.
Cut and serve immediately. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.

If you’re not a fan of white sugar, brown sugar will also work for the glaze. In fact, if you prefer a richer molasses-type flavor, you might want to use brown sugar instead.
Ooh, yes!! Use maple syrup instead of honey in the glaze for a wonderful, unique maple flavor!
A dash of garlic or chili powder added to the glaze tastes amazing, so definitely experiment with that. Also, light corn syrup works instead of honey in a pinch, and allspice instead of cloves!
