Perfect Lemonade

Happy Easter, y’all! I have a recipe I need to share with y’all for Spring and Summer – my Perfect Lemonade! Is there a more cool and refreshing drink when the weather warms up?! This lemonade had the perfect balance for sweet and tart. Serve it up at your next get-together!

This is my kiddos’ favorite summertime drink! Ok, and one of mine! I’m kinda particular when it comes to lemonade – I like the fresh squeezed stuff and nothing else. I rarely buy premade lemonade or instant powder mixes …. nah-uh. Not happening. In my opinion, the taste of fresh squeezed just cannot be beat!

My oldest son used to ask me what I do to my lemonade to make it taste so good …. y’all aren’t even gonna believe it. I add a pinch of salt to my lemonade!! It really makes that lemon flavor pop and just brightens the flavor of the drink. Seriously, you have to try it! You’ll never go back to regular ol’ lemonade again!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 cups water
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup lemon juice, fresh-squeezed is preferred, but bottled works in a pinch!

Instructions

  • Combine the sugar and water in a pot. Bring the mixture to a boil and stir well to ensure all of the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from the mixture from the heat and chill it for at least an hour in the refrigerator.
  • Once the mixture has cooled, combine the sugar-water mixture with a pinch of salt and lemon juice in a pitcher.
  • Serve with ice.

Notes

  • I think fresh-squeezed gives the best flavor, but the bottle is totally fine!
