Homemade Vanilla Syrup with Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a stick - a fun and yum #onthego breakfast!

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Jimmy Dean, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #onthego http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.

How fun is these Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a stick?! My kiddos think it's like having corn dogs for breakfast! :) My family loves breakfast food .... I mean, they really love it. You would think they just had the best meal they have ever had if breakfast is on the table! Personally, I can take it or leave it. It's not my favorite. I like some things (hello, sausage gravy and biscuits) and I'm not crazy about other things. My usual breakfast is usually coffee and toast, bagel or English Muffin. Boring, I know.

On a recent trip to Walmart, I picked up some Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a stick - to which my 2 year old daughter promptly said they were "hers" and that she didn't want to share with her brothers. Gotta love 2 year old's! ;)

I had to get Gabriel a box for him to hold since Abby wouldn't give "hers" up - he wanted a picture taken with the "good breakfast" too. LOL. Truthfully, the idea of eating pancakes and sausage on a stick is kinda fun - even to me!

Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a stick is a fun and quick on-the-go breakfast idea. They offer a sweet pancake that surrounds a delicious sausage for a tasty morning meal! I love that each stick is individually wrapped, and the instructions are on the wrappers as well as the box!

In just a few minutes, you can have breakfast before you head out the door! We like ours with a serving of fruit - grapes are a favorite at our house! :) Our most hectic morning is always Sunday morning - I like to make breakfast for my family before we head to church - but keeping it real, sometimes we sleep in a little too late! We actually had these Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a sticks before church this past weekend! I didn't have to feel rushed to make breakfast - and best of all, my kids loved these things .... and even I loved them! What a quick and easy idea for our Sunday mornings!

Just a heads up if you head to the store to buy your own Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a stick - Starting this month (February 2014), Walmart will be moving the Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a stick from the frozen food section to the breakfast aisle! I don't want you to get to the store and get frustrated because you can't find them or think they have been discontinued. Look for them in their new place at your local Walmart!

Although they don't necessarily need pancake syrup, I thought it would be fun to share a recipe for my kiddos (and YOU!!) to enjoy! A few times, I have ran out of pancake syrup and had to make my own. The great thing is, you can easily make new flavors just by switching the extract flavor! We're partial to vanilla and maple! Lemon is a fun flavor too!

Printable recipe
Yield: 1-1½ cups

1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tbsp. vanilla extract

In a medium saucepan, bring the water, both sugars and cornstarch to a boil over medium-high heat. Whisk to dissolve sugars and cornstarch. Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and stir in the vanilla extract. Simmer for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before use.

The syrup will thicken as it cools. Store in the refrigerator and use within a few days.
