Unicorn Hot Chocolate

This might be one of the most fun drinks ever! Now that the evenings are cooling off – and I even heard some of y’all have already gotten snow😳 – recipes like this hot chocolate recipe is the perfect way to warm up!

White hot chocolate is tinted with your favorite pastel color ( we love pink!) and topped with whipped cream, lots of colorful sprinkles, and mini marshmallows!

This recipe is so quick and easy to make – you’ll be enjoying it all year long! The kids – and the kids at heart – will love topping their mug with all kinds of yummy sweetness!

Unicorn Hot Chocolate Recipe

Ingredients for Hot Chocolate

  • milk
  • good quality white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate
  • pure vanilla extract
  • pink food coloring (or use another pastel color!)
  • Pinch of salt, optional

Ingredients for the topping

  • Purple decorating gel (or another pastel color)
  • Whipped cream
  • Pastel marshmallows
  • Fun pastel sprinkles
  • Mini sugar pearls

How to make Unicorn Hot Chocolate

Time needed: 15 minutes

How to make Unicorn Hot Chocolate

  1. Place ingredients in pan.

    Place the milk, white chocolate, vanilla, food coloring, and a pinch of salt (if using) in a medium saucepan.

  2. Whisk and heat.

    Whisk continuously over medium-low heat, until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth (do not boil).

  3. Divide and top.

    Divide the hot chocolate into individual mugs. Top with decorating gel, whipped cream, marshmallows, sprinkles, and mini sugar pearls.

  4. Serve.

    Serve immediately.

➡️ Does hot chocolate have caffeine?

Since white chocolate contains only cocoa butter and no cocoa solids, it has zero caffeine. 

➡️ Can I use a different color to tint the drink?

Sure! Any pastel color would be great – use your favorite! 😊

➡️ Any other suggestions?

Use pastel mini marshmallows if you prefer. Go crazy with the sprinkles. Add a swirl of sparkle gel. Have fun with it!

    What is the chocolate coating around the rim of the glass mugs?

      It’s decorator gel. You can usually find it in the baking aisle or near the food colorings. You can use any color you like – or omit it if you prefer. I hope that helps!
