How to make Sangria

  1. Chop.

Roughly chop two oranges and apples. Cut the third orange in slices for a pretty garnish.

  2. Add ingredients and stir.

Add the chopped oranges, apples, cinnamon sticks, spiced apple cider, orange juice, and red wine to a large pitcher. Stir until combined.

  3. Cover and refrigerate.

Cover the top of your pitcher with plastic wrap and let it sit in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

  4. Serve.

To serve: add a little ice to a glass, pour in the sangria mixture. Serve with a fresh rosemary sprig, orange slices, and a cinnamon stick. Enjoy!

I have added ginger ale to this recipe and it gave the sangria a little bubbly action. Very delicious!

Holiday Sangria: FAQs

➡️ Can I use different fruits?

Absolutely! Feel free to mix it up a bit! Cranberries, pears, pomegranate seeds, and limes would all make great additions.

➡️ Can I add more booze?

Sure! Brandy would be a great thing to add. Grand Mariner is delicious too! I’d start off with about 1/4-cup and adjust to taste from there. On a side note, a splash of ginger ale or lemon-lime soda is delicious, too!

➡️ Can I make this ahead?

I actually encourage you to! Although the minimum time is about two hours, leaving it refrigerated for about eight hours (or overnight) really gives all of the ingredients time to really become acquainted! You’ll better be able to taste ALL of the flavors if you give them more time to mingle together.

➡️ What type of wine should I use?

I would use whatever kind you like! This particular recipe calls for a sweet red wine blend, but if you prefer Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Moscato, or something else, feel free to use that instead.
