Mulled Wine Recipe FAQs
Something on your mind about this hot wine? Curious about how to make it better, or just how to make it right? I can help! Here are some questions I’ve collected over time (and their answers).
What kind of red wine do you recommend?
Honestly, you don’t need to grab anything fancy! Generally, most of the flavor in this recipe arises from the other ingredients. Grab the first kind of red wine you see at the store (as long as you know it tastes good)!
Can you make this in a slow cooker?
Yes, I’ve seen plenty of people use a slow cooker…or even my favorite, the Instant Pot!!
Can you make this in advance?
Yes! Just cool it down. It should keep overnight for you to reheat the next day.
If I want another kind of alcohol in it, what should I put in? Any suggestions?
Any of your favorite liqueurs will do!! Or none at all, if that’s your preference. 😉
Can I use white wine instead of red wine?
Absolutely! I recommend red wine, though! Just my personal taste.
Can I use ground cinnamon instead of cinnamon sticks?
Yes! Whatever’s on hand. It shouldn’t affect the flavor.
What about alternatives to honey?
I prefer honey, but you can use sugar or maple syrup. This is really a recipe where you can customize every part of it to taste.
Will other citrus work besides oranges?
Yup! Lemons, limes…pull out your favorites.
