You will save money
Interior rooms are always the most affordable stateroom option, and they are never in short supply. You can still find mid- or even upper-deck staterooms with interiors for a fraction of the cost! Many of the amenities are the same; you are just missing a window. Some interior rooms even have a porthole picture to make it more like the other rooms. The room is noticeably smaller, but it’s worth the savings if you don’t spend much time in your room.
You won’t spend so much time in the room
When you have an interior room, you’ll find that the little amount of space makes you want to spend your time on the boat. It can be nice to spend some time relaxing, but why not relax by the pool or at a lounge on the ship? Reading a book in your stateroom is just as enjoyable as it is at the onboard library. We found that by staying in an interior room, we were less tempted to hang out in our room and got out to try many of the free onboard activities.
You get complete darkness during naps or nighttime
If you like to take naps, this is the best way to guarantee a good night’s sleep. The room will be pitch black, and you can sleep away the day or night, so you’ll be ready for an early day at the shore the next day. This is crucial if you have little ones or adults who want to come back for a nap in the middle of the day!
You may notice the ship moving less
When you can see the ocean waves, it can sometimes mean more motion sickness. Sometimes, not being able to see the movement at all can trick your mind into noticing the boat moves less. This isn’t always the case, but many people who book interior staterooms have noticed this.

This is the best part of staying in an interior room! Many cruise lines don’t factor your room into their reward system unless you book a suite. This means that an interior room earns you just as much as an oceanview would. You can still earn toward your next cruise and save up for a balcony room later. This also means you can go on more cruises!
