With the official start of football season around the corner, it’s time to tailgate! These Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches are one of our favorite game day recipes! It’s so easy to make since the slow cooker does all of the work. I love that they free up my time to make other things or to watch the game.
Of course, these Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Sandwiches also make a great weeknight dinner or something to share at a potluck! Sometimes, I use equal amounts of chicken breasts in place of the pork for BBQ Pulled Chicken Sandwiches … You just can’t go wrong with any kind of Pulled Meat Sandwiches!

Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Ingredients
- 2 pounds pork tenderloin, pork shoulder or pork butt can also be used
- 1 can root beer or cola, 12 oz.
- 1 bottle barbecue sauce, 18 oz.
- 8 hamburger buns, toasted if desired
- Additional BBQ sauce, for serving (if desired)
Instructions
- Place the pork tenderloin in a slow cooker. Pour the root beer over the meat. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours or until pork shreds easily with a fork.
- After pork is cooked, drain and discard the root beer. Shred the pork and place it back in the slow cooker. Pour the barbecue sauce over the pork and stir to combine.
- Serve immediately or keep warm in slow cooker until ready to serve. Serve on hamburger buns with additional BBQ sauce, if desired.
Notes
- This cut is called shoulder or butt – they are from slightly different parts of the animal, but cook up great in this application.
