Yes, it’s true…with an Instant Pot, you can make a turkey breast in a fraction of the time it takes to make it in the oven. Just under an hour, in fact!! On top of that, you can use the same Instant Pot to make the gravy right after, and save your oven for other Thanksgiving (or general turkey dinner) goodies. And everything turns out as it would if you worked in the kitchen all day, roasting and checking to ensure the turkey isn’t drying out in the oven. I love simple recipes, don’t you?!
Honestly, this Instant Pot turkey breast recipe is a true life-saver in so many ways. I can’t wait to tell you all about it…so let’s get started!

How To Make Instant Pot Turkey Breast
Main dish:
- In a small bowl, combine butter and seasoning. Coat turkey breast completely with butter mixture. Season turkey with salt and pepper.
- Turn Instant Pot to ‘saute’ setting, add turkey breast, and sear on all sides for about 5-8 minutes total. Remove turkey and place on cutting board.
- Pour the stock into the inner pot of Instant Pot. Add garlic and celery. Place a wire rack into Instant Pot. Place turkey on top of the wire rack.
- Close lid and set Instant Pot to the ‘manual’ setting for 25 minutes on high pressure (time may vary depending on the size of turkey breast). The internal temperature of the turkey should be 165 degrees F.
- When the Instant Pot high-pressure cooking cycle is complete, turn off and let the pressure naturally release. This usually takes about 10-15 minutes. Follow the manufacturer’s guide for quick release!
- Remove turkey breast and place on cutting board, cover completely with foil, and let rest 10-15 minutes.

Making the gravy:
- Strain turkey drippings from the Instant Pot.
- Return the drippings to the inner pot of Instant Pot and set to ‘saute.’
- Add cornstarch to broth or water, and whisk until completely smooth.
- Whisk cornstarch mixture into turkey drippings in the Instant Pot. Saute until gravy is thickened.
- Serve this recipe immediately, and store the leftovers in the refrigerator!

Tips For Our Instant Pot Turkey Breast
How do you make a pressure cooker turkey breast even better? Follow these tips I’ve collected!!
- You can make this recipe in a slow cooker if you so desire! Some feel that the slow cooker method makes it juicier, so who am I to judge? I would cook this for about six hours if you’re not using an Instant Pot. But of course…I will always recommend the Instant Pot. Ha!! 🙂
- The easiest way to cook this recipe is with a thawed turkey breast. It’s harder to coat the turkey breast with the butter mixture, which is a BIG part of the recipe. If you can’t wait for the turkey to thaw, however, you can cook it on high pressure for 10 minutes per pound without the butter mixture–just add a lot of spices for flavoring. In my opinion, going thawed is best, though!
- If your turkey breast goes past the max fill line in the Instant Pot, no worries! Everything will still turn out fine.
- This recipe still works if you use a turkey breast with the bone in. I would cook the breast for about 6 minutes per pound. Just make sure the breast reaches 165 F internally and you should be all set.
