Greek Tzatziki Dip Recipe

We have this favorite restaurant on one of our very favorite beaches… it serves this amazing fresh baked bread with dips that are to die for… After a few years of indulging when were we there I decided to try my hand at a few of the dips. With a few trial and error recipes, we now have a favorite Greek Tzatziki Recipe that I can make at home.

This tasty dip is super easy to make and is great on so many things. We like it with fresh bread, on falafel pitas {as pictured here} or on crackers.

I like it as well because it’s a fairly healthy recipe. This dip is chalk full of cucumbers, and the base is 0% Greek yogurt! You can really slather it all over your sandwich and feel good about eating it.

It’s also amazing with couscous… how would you eat it?

Ingredients

  • 1 cup packed shredded cucumber
  • 1 cup Greek Yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon honey if desired, {depending on your brand of yogurt it can be quite tart!}

Instructions

  • If you don’t have Greek, you can strain regular plain yogurt with a cheesecloth. You do not want it to be runny. I also squeeze all the moisture out of my shredded cucumber with a clean kitchen towel.
  • Add the cucumber, garlic and lemon juice to the yogurt. Mix well.
  • Taste and add the honey if needed.

Notes

  • Use any fat level of yogurt you prefer.
