How to make Apple Pie Fudge

Ingredients

  • white chocolate chips
  • apple pie spice
  • white frosting – vanilla or cream cheese frosting can also be used
  • leftover apple pie
  • apple pie filling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line an 8 or 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Place the chocolate chips, with the spice, in a large bowl and microwave on high for 1 minute, stopping every 30 seconds to stir. The chocolate should be creamy with no lumps. If there are lumps, continue microwaving in 15-second intervals.
  3. Remove the lid and foil from the frosting and microwave the container on high for 45 seconds without stopping.
  4. Pour the warmed frosting into the bowl with the melted chocolate and stir thoroughly until combined.
  5. Pour the chocolate and frosting mixture into the pan and spread evenly.
  6. Crush the pieces of pie up and drop them in large chunks over the top of the fudge, lightly pressing down on them, so they sink into the fudge.
  7. If desired, drop teaspoons of the apple pie filling over the top, but do not press it into the fudge.
  8. Place in the fridge for about 2 hours or until solid.
  9. Slice into 1-inch squares and enjoy!

ROOM TEMP – up to one to two weeks.
FRIDGE – up to one month.

➡️ Can fudge be left at room temperature?

Yes, you can store fudge at room temperature for up to one to two weeks. To prolong the enjoyment, you can also refrigerate or freeze it. Make sure to have wax paper or parchment paper between any layers.

➡️ Can fudge be frozen?

Yes, you can freeze fudge.
– Once the fudge is set, wrap the entire slab or pieces in wax paper. Then wrap it in aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Finally, place the wrapped fudge in an airtight container of a freezer-safe airtight ziptop bag. Make sure to have wax paper or parchment paper between any layers. You can freeze fudge for up to two to three months.
– When you’re ready to enjoy it, remove it from the freezer and allow it to thaw for 2-3 hours before eating it.

Recipe Tips

  • Do not by any means mix the apple pie or pie filling into the fudge directly. If you do, it will make the fudge too wet, and it won’t set properly. If you have trouble with it setting up, skip the pie filling drops on the top.
  • The filling isn’t needed but adds extra flavor if desired. The fudge tastes amazing and isn’t lacking in flavor without it.
  • The chocolate will try and dry on you as you add the frosting. Just stir rigorously, and it will mix in with the frosting well. I use a rubber spatula for this step as it works the best.
  • Cream cheese or vanilla frosting can be used in place of the white frosting if need be.
