2015 is already brimming with new adventures for Love Bakes Good Cakes! Some of you may have already noticed that I started a second blog called eat . drink . yum ..... I think a few of y'all think I am crazy {and you might be right}.

One question that keeps coming up is, "why?" Here's the shortest answer I can come up with - Love Bakes Good Cakes is and will always be my baby. I feel like I have come a long way in almost three years - and I have learned a lot. A new blog gives me the opportunity to do things right this time. I won't be posting as frequently over there - only twice a week - if that much. I won't have the same strategy on my social media pages that I have with Love Bakes Good Cakes. It will be more of an extra place to share without all of the sponsored posts or demands that come with running this blog. Love Bakes Good Cakes has grown into so much more than I ever could have imagined it could be. It has been a place for me to share something I truly love and am passionate about. eat . drink. yum will be an extension of everything I have learned here on Love Bakes Good Cakes - just on a more simplified level. Nothing will be changing here on Love Bakes Good Cakes - but if you are interested in following my new blog, feel free to stop by and have a look around. :) I need to re-do my buttons over there to add BlogLovin' - but the rest of the social media buttons work!

Another new adventure for Love Bakes Good Cakes in 2015 is, I am joining up with eleven other bloggers to bring you a 12 Bloggers Series. Once a month - on the 12th of each month - we will be sharing a themed recipe with you and we will be linking to all of the other recipes so you can easily hop around between all of the deliciousness! We've got some really great themes lined up - you'll definitely want to keep an eye out for this new series every month! All of the recipes will have 12 ingredients or less - which is great for busy cooks. That will be 12 months of 12 bloggers posting on the 12th of each month a recipe with 12 ingredients or less! Try saying that ten times fast ..... You can follow along with us on social media using the hashtag #12bloggers

This month's 12 bloggers theme is slow-cooker soups. As soon as I saw the theme for this month, I knew what I wanted to make. This Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings is one dish my family loves when the weather is cold - there's just something about comfort food to help warm you up! If you have never used biscuits to make dumplings, you may be a little skeptical - but let me assure you, it really works! This dish is always a hit with my family - I hope you enjoy this as much as we do!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
by Jamie @ Love Bakes Good Cakes
Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
  • ¼ tsp. poultry seasoning
  • ¼ tsp. paprika
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • 2 cans (10.5 oz. each) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
  • 1 can (14.5 oz.) chicken broth
  • 1 soup can water (use the empty soup can to measure)
  • 2 tubes (10 oz. each) refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces
  • Chopped parsley, for serving (optional)

Instructions

1. Place the chicken in a slow cooker. Sprinkle with the poultry seasoning, paprika, and pepper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the 2 cans of soup, chicken broth, and water; pour the mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.

3. Cover and cook for 5 to 6 hours on HIGH.

4. About 90 minutes before serving, remove the chicken from the slow cooker and roughly chop into pieces. Return the chicken to the slow cooker. Add the torn biscuit dough, pressing down gently to make sure they are all submerged. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.

5. To serve, sprinkle with chopped parsley.

I use my slow cookers all the time, but especially this time of the year. Their is nothing more comforting than a bowl of warm soup and nothing easier than fixing the soup in a slow cooker. One of my favorite things to make is a slow cooker Chicken N Dumplings, People will truly enjoy your recipe it looks truly warm and delicious.

  10. Do you add the biscuits during the last 90 minutes of cooking time, or add them after the cooking time is over? Thanks

  14. Jamie could I substitute the chicken breast halves with canned chicken breast chunks? On a budget we just moved and not a lot of food in our house yet so this is a good recipe for us!
