Christmas Chocolate Drops and an everyday pleasure worth taking

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Mars®. The opinions and text are all mine.

Cookie baking season will be upon us in about a week. Ok, I'm sure there is not an "official" start date for cookie season, but in my mind, from the day after Thanksgiving until the new year, it's cookie season. It's kind of like pumpkin season or grilling season - we just have times we enjoy those things more than other times.

Christmas Chocolate Drops 2

I love dark chocolate. I would pick dark chocolate over any other kind of chocolate every single time. Dove® Dark has a unique taste. It's deliciously rich, creamy and silky smooth - and it's not bitter or brittle like some other dark chocolates can be. For me, that is huge!

DOVE® uses specially selected cocoa beans to deliver it's signature taste, a special process that produces the unique silky smooth texture, and thoughtfully designed shapes and packaging to provide a chocolate experience like no other.  If you pick up a bag of DOVE® Dark Chocolate, you'll also notice a little green frog seal - that seal means that DOVE® sources 100% of its cocoa for its Dark Chocolate products from Rainforest Alliance Certified Farms! They must meet several environmental and labor standards, which is good for the environment and cocoa farmers around the world!

Maybe you're already thinking about baking cookies, gift-giving or cookie trays for work. I've got a recipe from the Dove® website that's sure to please

Christmas Chocolate Drops
Recipe from the Dove Chocolate website
Printable recipe
Yield: 36 cookies

For the roulade:
1 bag Dove® Promises® Dark Chocolate
8 tbsp. (1 stick) butter
⅓ cup flour
¼ cup cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
2 large eggs
⅔ cup sugar
2 cups chopped nuts: such as walnuts, pecans or toasted almonds
2 cookie sheet pans
foil paper

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Line the sheet pans with foil and set aside.

Melt half of the DOVE® PROMISES® Dark Chocolate with the butter in the top of a double boiler until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Meanwhile, roughly chop the remaining chocolate and set aside.

To make the batter, combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a small bowl, set aside. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until thick and light yellow, about 2 minutes.
Stir in flour mixture and cooled chocolate and beat for 1 minute. Fold in the remaining chopped DOVE® PROMISES® Dark Chocolate and nuts.

Drop tablespoons of batter onto the prepared cookie sheet pans about 2 inches apart. Bake for approximately 10 minutes, or until just firm. Remove from the oven, transfer to a wire rack and cool for 5 minutes before removing from the cookie sheet pans.

By the way, I recently found out that DOVE® has introduced a Silky Smooth Mint & Dark Chocolate Swirl that I cannot wait to try! I'm already thinking of all the Christmas goodies I can put them in - or maybe I'll just have a piece with my evening  cup of coffee as a way to unwind and indulge a bit! Whether taking a "moment" on your own or sharing a "moment" with a loved one, DOVE® Chocolate is an everyday pleasure worth taking!

  7. I agree with you -- cookie season starts immediately after Thanksgiving! And these cookies look wonderful -- crisp on the edges, but gooey in the center. And I appreciate knowing that the cocoa used in the Dove dark chocolates is ethically sourced. I've always loved Dove chocolates, but this makes me like them even more!

These cookies look wonderful -- crisp on the outside and gooey on the inside, which is just how I like my cookies.
