Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and olive oil.
In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients. Mix gently with your hands or a spoon. Try not to overmix – just until it comes together.
Use a 2-inch cookie scoop (about 2½ tablespoons) to portion the mixture. Roll each scoop between your palms to shape into a ball.
Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until cooked through.
Optional: For a golden top, switch the oven to broil on high. Broil the meatballs for 3 to 4 minutes. Keep a close eye so they do not burn.
Notes
These turkey meatballs oven style are best enjoyed fresh but reheat well.
Try them with a yogurt sauce,
tzatziki
, or even a squeeze of lemon on top. My favorite way to serve this recipe is in a bowl with couscous or orzo, and my recipes for
Smashed Cucumber Salad with Pomegranate Dressing
and
Creamy Lemon Dill Dressing
.
If you plan to broil for extra browning, keep a close watch to avoid burning.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheat gently in the microwave or in the oven. Try not to overdo it so they stay juicy.
These freeze well for up to 3 months. Thaw the meatballs overnight in the fridge before reheating.
Air Fryer Instructions:
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
Lightly spray the basket with nonstick spray or brush with a bit of oil.
Place the meatballs in a single layer, leaving space between them.
Air fry for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the meatballs are golden and reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
Tip:
Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in batches.
