Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a muffin/cupcake pan with paper liners and set aside.
In a large bowl with a hand mixer or using a stand mixer, cream together your sugar and butter until smooth. Once smooth, add your eggs and vanilla and beat together until the ingredients are well combined.
Add in your eggnog and beat again until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Fold in the flour, baking powder, and salt until no clumps of dry ingredients remain. Be sure to scrape the bottom of your bowl to make sure no flour has stuck to the bottom.
Fill each liner up to the top with batter.
Bake your cupcakes for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center tests clean.
Allow your cupcakes to cool while you prepare your frosting. To prepare the frosting, whip together your cream cheese, eggnog, and powdered sugar until smooth.
