An Apple Crumble is a dessert of baked chopped apples with cinnamon and nutmeg, topped with an oat and brown sugar streusel. A great alternative to pie!
To make the crumble: In a bowl combine the butter, sugar, and the flour, and stir until combined. Set aside.
Grease an ovenproof 9x9 inch dish and add the apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, and sugar in the dish and mix until the apples are covered with the cinnamon.
Sprinkle the crumble mixture on top of the apples.
Place in the oven for approximately 30-40 minutes. You will notice the apples will start bubbling, that’s an indication that the crumble is ready.
Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
The best apples to use are Granny Smith apples, Gala, Jonagold, Honeycrisp, Braeburn, or Cortland apples
