Nutella Hot Chocolate: FAQs

➡️ Can I make this in the microwave?

Sure! You’ll want to put the milk in a microwave-safe mug and heat it until it is warmed through WITHOUT boiling it. Stir in the Nutella. Top with mini marshmallows and/or a peppermint stick, if desired.

➡️ How can I make this extra creamy?

For an extra creamy recipe, add 1/2 cup heavy cream and bump up the amount of Nutella to 1/4 cup.

➡️ Can I substitute water for the milk?

You can, but note that it won’t be as creamy.

➡️ What kind of milk should I use?

Whatever kind you like or what you usually keep on hand.

➡️ Can I make this in a slow cooker?

Yes! If you are making this for a crowd, a slow cooker is a great way to make plenty and keep the drinks warm! You’ll want to use the same measurements and heat the mixture over low or high heat until hot and then switch it over to keep warm.

➡️ Any other suggestions?

I like to swirl a peppermint candy cane in my drink – and if I have it on hand, I will sometimes add a couple of pumps of peppermint syrup!
