Air Fryer Shrimp
Ever since getting an air fryer, I love converting some of the recipes my family enjoys the most to using those recipes in the air fryer.
I also love that cleanup is a breeze with an air fryer. With only a few common ingredients, it also comes together quickly! Plus, I don’t have to turn on the big oven for just a few minutes since shrimp cook so fast anyways!
This recipe is great as is served with your choice of dipping sauce – or try it over pasta or in a salad! Sometimes, we even use this recipe for tacos or wraps!

Air Fryer Shrimp: Ingredients & Utensils
Ingredients
- frozen shrimp – you can also use fresh shrimp if you have access to it. You can make this recipe with tails on or off. You can buy already shelled and deveined shrimp or do it yourself.
- olive oil – or any neutral-flavored oil you like
- lemon juice – fresh squeezed is best, but you can use bottled in a pinch.
- salt – I used regular table salt.
- ground black pepper – we enjoy the peppery taste in this recipe, but if you prefer a more subtle taste, feel free to decrease the amount.
- garlic powder – used to add layers of flavor.
- minced garlic – used to add layers of flavor.
- Parmesan cheese – freshly shredded is best, but pre-shredded also works well. You don’t want to use the powdered stuff here.
Utensils
- measuring spoons and cups
- medium mixing bowl
- tongs
- air fryer
How to make Air Fryer Shrimp
NOTE: See the PRINTABLE RECIPE CARD below for the full recipe instructions.
- Dry and season shrimp – Pat dry the shrimp and add it to a bowl with the oil, lemon juice, seasoning, and cheese. Mix well.
- Cook the shrimp – Place the shrimp in the air fryer and cook them until the shrimp turn from translucent to opaque.
Recipe Tips
- In this recipe, the shrimp have a nice pepper taste to them. If you don’t like a stronger pepper taste, decrease the amount used to 1/4-teaspoon.
- Use whatever kind of shrimp you have on hand or whatever your family prefers. For this recipe, I used medium deveined shrimp with tails off. If you use another size, you may need to adjust the cooking time.
- You can use cooked or uncooked shrimp for this recipe, but may need to adjust the cooking time accordingly. Obviously, already cooked shrimp will need less time.

Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Shrimp: FAQs
This recipe can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days.
Place the shrimp in the air fryer and cook at 300°F for 2-3 minutes or just until warmed through.
Perfectly cooked shrimp will be firm and have an opaque white color with some pink or bright red accents.
The easiest way to tell if shrimp is overcooked is when they are curled tightly into a “C” or “O” shape.

This is the best shrimp I’ve ever had.! And it is pretty healthy too. No butter! It doesn’t need butter because it has so much flavor like it is.
Looking forward to trying…
This was fantastic thanks for sharing the recipe
You’re aware, of course, that you air fryer is just a grossly undersized convection oven. This recipe works equally well in a full sized oven and you can do it all at once instead of tiny batches.
True-however, I have a Countertop Air Fryer Toaster Oven that is Amazing.
But no need to ‘dis’ the smaller ‘bucket’ styles. They work well for a Lot of people even if batch cooking is necessary!
Not Everyone has a Convection Oven (I do). However, I Love my countertop Ninja Foodi XL Pro 10 in 1 as it uses less ‘resources’ than my Huge oven for small, quick meals.
Plus it being on the countertop there’s no need to bend over to look at something!!!
Mark, if you don’t like air fryers why are you commenting on a recipe called “AIR FRYER GARLIC PARMESAN SHRIMP”? Obviously all of us finding this recipe will want to use it in our air fryers. I couldn’t care less about the comparison with a convection oven..your comment is simply irrelevant
There really isn’t any reason to be rude.
As stated at the very beginning of the post::
“Plus, I don’t have to turn on the big oven for just a few minutes since shrimp cook so fast anyways!”
– So Mark, it seems like she (and many others, I would assume) is, of course, aware of the similarities of a full-sizaed oven and an air fryer.
This recipe looks easy and tasty. Live my air fryer. Alit of people don’t need to make huge portions at once. Or just cut the recipe in half.
Absolutely delicious! I agree with the other poster, though, about changing the cooking time from 10 minutes to five minutes. Ten minutes would have been way too long. But it’s the best shrimp recipe I’ve made in a very long time.
Delish and lite for summer. Had it with salad. I had large shrimp. I had to reduce time because they were pretty much cooked at 10 minutes. Will have again. Thanks!
