Facebook is at it again! #ImJustABlogger #ShowMeInYourNewsfeed

Facebook is at it again. Not that any of us should be surprised. Changes, changes and more changes ..... and more calls to spend your money on ads so that people (your followers) can "see" your posts. I don't know about you folks, but I am tired of it.

Facebook is at it again! #ImJustABlogger #ShowMeInYourNewsfeed

I could go off on a rant .... I could. But I won't.

While I understand any business needs money to function (believe me, I "get" that) .... I think it is unfair to extort money from bloggers who don't don't sell anything and have business pages because that's the way Facebook is set up. I'm a blogger ... a housewife. Facebook tells me that I need to spend $50 a day ... a day!! ... so people can see my posts in their newsfeeds?! Yeah, let me go pick that off the money tree in my backyard. I don't have the funds like those big companies to pay Facebook to give me a "Facebook Account Manager that will make sure I get the most out of my investment" ...... and I'm gonna guess that most bloggers don't. It's ludicrous. Facebook is telling me that they will only put my page in my fans newsfeeds if I pay them a ridiculous amount of money?! $1500 a month?! My fans liked my page because they obviously wanted to see my posts. Why do I have to fight like heck to be seen?! What happened to Facebook is free - it always will be?

Since I am a big believer in the POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA, I'm going to hashtag the heck out of #ImJustABlogger #ShowMeInYourNewsfeed .... I hope other bloggers will do the same ... make it go viral and make people notice. Maybe Facebook will realize that although we have "business pages," we are bloggers. Just bloggers. We do this because we love sharing what we do with other people - not because we're out to get rich. It's sad that Facebook has become so hung up on money that it has become their only focus.

I would love to hear from you - leave a comment, stop by my Facebook page and feel free to join me in hashtagging.

I hope you enjoy! Shared at these fun parties!

  1. What I'd really like to do is find a lawyer willing to file a class action suit. FB says they're free and always will be, then after people sign up as pages and have them for a while, FB suddenly targets just that segment of users to block from being able to use it like everyone else does unless they pay. Extortion is still illegal, right? That didn't change while I was sleeping?

  2. And on a follow-up --- are you required to spend the $50? When I read it, it sounds like it is a service they are offering to those who actually spend that money.

    1. It makes me laugh how it says that it is a FREE service offered to those who spend $50 a day for four weeks. In what world is that free? Certainly not mine! :)

    2. Lara.. I had not noticed that it had actually said FREE until you mentioned it.. Its a "free" service if you invest $50 a day is a total contradiction.. I agree that definitely NOT free!

  3. Go get 'em Jamie, this is insane! I will gladly join in. :) I'm sure they see Pinch of Yum's monthly reports and assume that all bloggers make that kind of money. Well I definitely don't. I wish they would just be honest and charge a flat fee, across the board if they want to make money from bloggers. These games are too much!

  4. Stick it to the man Jamie, I'll gladly join in! I am getting really sick of Facebook, especially my personal one which is getting clogged up constantly with crap advertisements. I feel like I am constantly clicking on advertisements and clicking "I DON'T WANT TO SEE THIS!!" I don't care about some stupid tshirt that I'm definitely not going to buy. Show me the good stuff Facebook!

  5. There is a difference between informational blogs and those that sell services or merchandise. Let the sellers pay to present their products, but leave the informational blogs alone.

  7. Personally I think us bloggers should just ditch Facebook. They don't need us; if all the bloggers suddenly disappeared from FB they would be just fine as a business. They have no reason to bend to our demands. There are other, better social media outlets these days, like Pinterest and Instagram. I would never think of spending money to promote my content on FB. Hashtags are great but they will never change.

    1. Forgot to add that FB shows all posts if you click "recent posts" instead of "top posts". Much better then.
