Meet Erin from My Very Educated Mother

Hi y'all! While I'm moving and getting adjusted, some of my bloggy friends have written posts for me! I hope you enjoy this series and find some wonderful new blogs to follow! A big hug and thank you to the bloggers who have stepped in for me during my absence. :) Today, let me introduce you to Erin from My Very Educated Mother:

@mvemotherHello everybody, my name is Erin and most days you can find me at My Very Educated Mother where I share crafts, recipes, and household tips. I’m so excited to be guest posting here at Love Bakes Good Cakes.

Today I’m going to share with you a recipe that got me through my first pregnancy, the Classic Dump Cake.  Seriously, I would eat at least one a week. And am I the only one who wonders why something so delicious has such a horrible name? Classic Dump Cake #recipe #cakes

  • 1 can of Crushed Pineapple
  • 1 can of Cherry Pie Filling
  • 1 box of YELLOW cake mix (this does make a difference)
  • 2 sticks of butter (don’t worry you don’t HAVE to use it all)
  • 1/2 cup of chopped pecans (optional)
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a 9x13 inch baking pan combine the pineapple and pie filling.  Next comes the cake mix, just spread it out on TOP of the fruit mixture, don’t mix them together.

Butter time! Like I mentioned before you don’t HAVE to use two sticks, in case you’re trying to watch what you eat. Of course, anyone eating dump cake probably isn’t that worried about that.  Just cut the butter into slices and lay on top of the cake mix. I like to add just a bit of pecans too, yummy!  Bake for 45-55 minutes or until it’s golden brown. Classic Dump Cake #cake #recipes

WARNING: this stuff goes fast!  After one night this is what we had left!

  1. This is so delicious! But I decided (after the first delicious batch...) to tweak it just a little bit.

I used a pineapple cake mix (about 3/4 of the box) in place of yellow cake, and I kept a little bit of the pineapple juice to distribute over the top with the butter. (So I didn't have to use BOTH sticks!)

It comes out delicious, if you like pineapple that much!

    GREAT recipe!

I love reading your comments. Thanks so much for taking the time to read and respond. :)
