Go West, young man! (or something like that?!)

It's time I spill the beans ..... Only a handful of people knew before yesterday - but some of y'all may have caught in yesterday's post that our family is moving - from Eastern North Carolina to Arizona. Literally, almost clear across the country. Brian and I have never felt "at home" here. We have tried to make a life in North Carolina and it just isn't happening for us. I think I speak for both of us when I say, we just don't like it here. Truthfully, it has been very difficult without any support system.

Our house finally sold in January after being on the market for about 8 months. After much soul-searching and praying, we knew the right choice was to move closer to family. We believe God is opening and closing doors for us. Although North Carolina holds many good memories for us, we look forward to the next phase of our life - and we really look forward to having family close! I am actually looking forward to Easter this year because it won't be "just us". The kids look forward to seeing Gramma too!

Needless to say, there are a lot of things that need to be done. The packing, loading, utilities, forwarding mail, cleaning .. ya know, all the "fun" stuff. :) (Anyone wanna come do it for me? I can pay in cookies!) After all that, it will take four days of driving ...... I'm not really looking forward to that part ... and I pray the kids do better than I think they will.

Anyways, I won't be around here much in the coming weeks .... I do have posts scheduled - and I have wonderful bloggy friends who have helped with posts ... and the parties will still be going on - I just don't know if they will have features for the next couple of weeks. I may have to do a big feature for a couple of weeks?! I'm just not sure how it will play out yet. I know I won't be on social media much .... and it may take longer for me to reply to comments - but know that I will read them and get back to you as soon as I can!

Thank you for being a part of this journey with us! Please, pray for a smooth transition and safe travels! I hope to post about our trip when we get to the other side and things settle down a bit. :)

  2. I think you're an amazingly competent woman who will guide her family right across the country to a new, happier home! The thought of being with grandma for all of the significant events in life will keep you rolling right along. I am cheering -and praying- for you!

  6. Wishing you and your family the best Jamie! I know how thrilled I was when my daughter and her family moved back to my state after living in two distant ones. Your fans will be here after the move, don't worry about taking some time off. Wave when you pass Arkansas.

  8. Jamie, having lived somewhere where I never really fit in and never came to like I totally understand the need to find something else. I wish you and your family all the best in this adventure! Hope the transition is a smooth one.

  11. Hey! So I found you on Facebook and admittedly have absolutely NO IDEA how to participate in a Facebook party, but! #1- This is my Southwest Black Bean Pizza- http://www.sugardishme.com/2012/08/02/415-a-m/ . I could basically eat it every day. And #2- I live in south western NC and am waaaaaaaaay out of sorts over here. It has never ever felt like home so I get the feeling!!! What's weird is that I grew up in Charlotte, NC. I guess because that city is such a meld of people from all over I never noticed that rural NC is so flipping weird. Best of luck in your new place!!!
