Chocolate Malted Buttercream Frosting and the Sunshine Award

Remember those Double Chocolate Whoppers Bars? Remember that frosting I said I thought about making after they were gone? Today, I'm going to share that recipe with you! As good as those bars were without the frosting, I think they would be "fantabulous" with the frosting. If you prefer straight-up chocolate, leave the Malted Milk powder out!

Chocolate Malted Buttercream Frosting
Printable recipe
Yield: about 3 cups

1/2 cup (1 stick)  salted butter, softened
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup Nestle Carnation Chocolate or Original Malted Milk
2-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
1/3 cup milk
2 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Place the butter, cocoa powder and malted milk powder in a large mixing bowl. Blend with an electric mixer on low until the mixture is well combined. Add confectioners' sugar, milk and vanilla. Beat on low speed until well combined and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add milk if frosting is too thick or confectioner's sugar if the frosting is too thin, 1 tbsp. at a time until desired consistency is reached.

Use to frost your favorite bars, brownies, cookies, cupcakes or cake!

I hope you enjoy!

What a wonderful way to start a Monday morning! Yesterday, I was awarded the "Sunshine Award" from The Better Baker! It's my first blogging award ever! I am beyond excited that my little ol' blog got an award! Thank you so much for the award The Better Baker!

If you haven't already, check out The Better Baker's blog ... she has some super awesome recipes - she has been nationally-published and even wrote her own cookbook containing all of her favorite recipes!

The Sunshine Award is an award given by bloggers to other bloggers. The recipients of the Sunshine Award are: "Bloggers who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogoshere." The way the award works is this: Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them. Answer 10 questions about yourself. Select 10 of your favorite bloggers, link their blogs to your post and let them know they have been awarded the Sunshine Award! Don't forget to copy and paste the award on your blog!

Here we go! Ten questions:

1. Favorite color: Earth tones - greens especially

2. Favorite animal: I can't say that I really have a favorite animal ... but based on the animals I most look forward to seeing at the zoo, I'm going to pick the lion and monkeys!

3. Favorite number: 7

4. Favorite drink: Being a Southern girl, sweet tea ;)

5. Facebook or Twitter: Facebook .... even though I have a Twitter account, I don't really know how to use it ... I cheat and have my FB and Twitter linked so my posts on FB automatically post to Twitter ... I check Twitter 2 or 3 times a day to see if I have new followers, maybe do a retweet ... but I am on FB constantly! (Sorry, loyal Twitter peeps!)

6. Good Book or a Good Movie: I'm going to go with movie - and it has to be funny - otherwise I lose interest. I really don't have a favorite movie ... it just has to make me laugh!

7. My Passion: Oh man .... The Mister and I have many conversations about this topic!  I feel very blessed that God has opened many doors in my life. I enjoy spending time in my kitchen - making meals and memories with my family and friends. I hope to encourage other families to make family mealtime an important part of their day ... With our busy lives it's almost a dying part of our culture.

8. Giving or getting presents: Definitely giving ... and usually it's homemade treats! I love the feeling of making someones day better!

9. Favorite day of the year: The 4th of July - I love all things American ... and I love seeing people celebrating and spending time together as a family. I love the parades, the fireworks, the cookouts, seeing all the red, white and blue ... just everything about it! Oh, and it's also my birthday, too! Pretty awesome day for a birthday if I do say so myself! Who else gets parades and fireworks for their birthday?!

10. Favorite flowers: Without a doubt, hands down ... lilies! They are so pretty :)

The 10 blogs I am sending the Sunshine Award to, in no particular order:

It was so hard choosing only 10 blogs .... I am inspired by so many! I appreciate all the bloggers out there who give their time, talent, life experiences, humor and uplifting words. May God bless you all!
